- Simon Graf is the inventor and pioneer for 3d metal printed orthodontic appliances.
- Since 2014 he plans his metallic appliances virtual on an intraoral scan, and produces them directly with selective-laser melting, or 3d metal printing.
- Of course in the meanwhile many new printing options appeared, and also many more orthodontic appliances were converted to be printed directly.
- But not only metal printing evolved, also direct aligner printing is possible nowadays.
- Also the orthodontic retention is evolving with new cad/cam procedures and he keeps up with the latest trends and research for this topic as well.
- New high-tech is not just important for 3d printing in the clinic, AI changes also the way how orthodontists will be able to learn, plan and teach orthodontic treatments.
- Simon gives 3 lectures, where he collects all his experience over the years, and presents all different up-to-date printing possibilities for 3d metal printed appliances, direct printed aligners, cad/cam retention and his vision for the orthodontic future with the new tool AI.
-
2. Direct printed aligners: a new era in aligner treatment
Abstract Simon Graf:
In his lecture Simon Graf will present an update for direct printed aligners. He will show some cases with direct printed aligners and how to plan and produce them. He will show step by step, how it’s possible to virtually plan them and what to take care of during the printing procedure.
As direct printing of aligner does allow more possibilities, he will point out different functions, like functional class II/III elements, that can be added to aligners including treatment options with direct connection to mini-implants.
Session learning points:
-How to print aligners directly without cast
-New aligner thinking
3. CAD/CAM in retention and a glimpse of the future with AI in orthodontics
Abstract Simon Graf:
A human body is never static. That’s why there’s a need for a long-term retention protocol after the orthodontic treatment. This can be provided removable or fixed, according to each orthodontists’ preferences. Simon Graf will wrap up different possibilities with cad/cam produced removable and bonded retainers.
Like everything else, orthodontics needs to evolve as well, in order not to disappear! And evolution seems to be AI at the moment. Simon will share his thoughts about the orthodontic future and AI, in the clinical and theoretical aspects.
Session learning points:
-CAD/CAM design of orthodontic fixed retainers
-Clinical procedure for a cad/cam produced fixed titanium retainer
-AI now!
-AI in the orthodontic teaching and clinic.
